For this work, Rineke first made a number of separate elements from small strips of glass that have been melted together with a ball of colored glass. After forming, they lay on the workbench for a while to see what it would be. Suddenly it became clear: It turned out to be the twisted shape of a chromosome! A helix, in other words. To capture this shape, the elements are fused together on two sheets of glass that stand upright on the base. What a discovery.
