Remembrance
Description
The poppy is the symbol of remembrance in Great Britain. Rineke got to know this when she attended the remembrance day on May 4 in her former hometown of Dronten for many years. The monument in Dronten is the propeller of a Lancaster bomber from the Second World War. Until a few years ago, the ‘Airgunners‘, the air gunners from those aircraft, were always present at grand and impressive commemorations. Their wives and relatives each place a ‘poppy’ to commemorate their loved ones. War always only leaves loss. Lest we forget.
